Tokyo:

Typhoon Haishen, which is anticipated to strike southwestern Japan in the next couple of days, has actually triggered the nation’s military to put 22,000 soldiers on complete alert, Japanese Defence Minister Taro Kono stated on Saturday.

” In case something occurs, 22,000 members of the self-defence forces are on complete alert. The self-defence forces need to collect all their strength and be all set for anything,” Kono stated, as estimated by the NHK broadcaster.

Earlier in the day, Japan’s Meteorological Agency stated that the hurricane might trigger high waves that can be similar to tsunamis.

Atmospheric pressure in Haishen’s centre is 920 hectopascals, while its wind power is 180 kilometres per hour and gusts depend on 252 kilometres per hour.

Typhoon Haishen is anticipated to strike Japan’s Kyushu island on September 6 and 7.

Nearly 100 flights in southwestern and southern Japan were cancelled on Saturday due to the approaching hurricane.
